If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Setagaya City, make sure to take a detour to Blikje Button, a hidden café that beautifully marries a cozy, rustic atmosphere with delightful culinary offerings. Nestled on the second floor, above an inconspicuous staircase that might initially mislead you toward an Indian curry spot, this café truly feels like a secret nook just waiting to be discovered.

As you step inside, the warm ambiance envelops you; think thrift store chic with an inviting vibe that encourages lingering over your meal. The gentle hum of nostalgic music fills the air, enhancing the relaxed atmosphere that makes Blikje Button an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of nearby Shimo streets. It's the kind of place where you can comfortably sip a drink and savor every moment, with friendly staff eager to make your experience even more enjoyable.

Food lovers will rejoice at Blikje Button's standout dish—the omurice. This fluffy, perfectly cooked omelet enveloping a generous serving of seasoned rice is not just a meal but an experience. Many patrons, like the enthusiastic Maggi Richard, have fallen head over heels for its deliciousness, often stating they wish they could enjoy it every day. Complimented by the sense of community and warmth from the staff—who are known to engage with their customers—it’s a dish that quite literally warms the soul. Raphael Enriquez echoed this sentiment, describing the omurice as something that "healed" him, showcasing the comforting power food can have.

To enjoy this culinary delight, note that purchasing one drink, averaging around ¥700-800, is part of the experience, as affirmed by customer Camilla Rodriguez. Keeping the wallet in check while indulging in such exquisite flavors is a win-win. The café’s patrons continuously rave about the delicious menu offerings and the intimate, approachable nature embedded in the overall experience.

If you're looking for a calm and cozy place to unwind—whether it's to escape the crowds or simply to relish good food and friendly conversation—Blikje Button should be top of your list. It's not just a meal; it’s a microcosm of hospitality, warmth, and deliciously comforting flavors that can turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary one. Don’t forget to take a moment to relish the ambiance and engage with the exceptionally patient staff, who, as noted by Gloria Ma, truly enhance the experience with their kindness.

So why wait? Discover the charm of Blikje Button, and let this café start a delicious chapter in your travel story in Tokyo.

HUGE fan of this place! Awesome vibes, would be here everyday week if I was local. A little difficult to find, but just go up the stairs that look like they lead to an Indian curry place and turn right at the top.

Food is spectacular, atmosphere is very homey and rustic. A good break from the busy Shimo streets. The omurice healed something in me

A cozy hidden gem with an enjoyable and thrift-store kind of style. The staff was friendly and gladly spoke to their customers. Even though the sign makes it look so the the cafe is high up in the building, it's on the second floor.
